Smart Cards Registration Authority: New Online Search Tool
One of the issues briefly discussed at previous CP ITG meetings and with some, was the difficulty of using the old A-Z list of Smartcard Registration Authority (RA) contact points. There was a preference fed back for a searchable tool that would make it easier for pharmacy team members, locums and those new to a pharmacy (and RA) especially to find the correct local contact details speedily.
NHS England’s Transformation Directorate has been developing a replacement service and has now launched a new online tool to help pharmacy teams quickly identify their local Smartcard/CIS2 Registration Authority (RA) contact details for smartcard support.
The new search tool should help pharmacy team members, as well as helpdesks that receive these queries, to find the appropriate local RA and resolve CIS2 access issues more quickly.
During this early rollout phase, NHS England is encouraging users to try the tool and submit feedback using the built-in feedback function. Feedback is welcome not only on the accuracy of contact details, but also on the tool’s functionality and usability. Registration Authorities are also being encouraged to review and update their information, so data quality should continue to improve over time.
