Sexual Health Worcestershire

The EHC service is available to all females aged 13 years or over in Worcestershire.

The service allows the free supply of emergency hormonal contraception (EHC) as levonorgestrel under Patient Group Direction (PGD). Pharmacists will also provide support and advice to service users, ensuring that discussions about sexually transmitted infections take place giving special considerations to signposting to chlamydia screening services.

The Care Trust is the Lead Provider for the Worcestershire Integrated Sexual Health Service as of 1st October 2017.

Latest Updates:
March 2024: The Worcestershire provision of Emergency Hormonal Contraception PGD for Levonorgestrel tablets 1500 micrograms has been updated and uploaded to Pharmoutcomes.  It is available for use (LNG PGD).

April 2024: Communication from the ICB –
In Jan 2020 there were some changes to prescriptions, summarised here-FP10 toolkit (V1) 01.2020.pdf (nhsbsa.nhs.uk)

Please note the ‘FS’ endorsement on page 4, indicating that the prescription is for the treatment of an STI and should be provided free of charge. We have had a few instances where patient’s have been charged for the prescription as the pharmacist was unaware what the endorsement meant.
